Bored of Bordet

I am back from 3 days and 2 nights at the hospital. Like I said, I planned to go if I didn't feel better, which is what happened. My mum brought me to the emergency where they refused to let me go back home. After checking my blood sample they saw that my white blood count was dangerously low, I had a grade III mucositis, which are ulcers all over my tongue and throat + an inflammation of the muscles. To put it clearly: I couldn't eat or walk. I was completely dehydrated and feeling so weak I fell asleep at the emergency room.

So there you have it, 2 nights at the hospital... being well taken care of I have to say. Now I'm back and one last aspect of the side effects has appeared: nail pain. I had felt a bit of pain before in my fingertips, but this time it's worse. I feel as if my nails are gonna come off if I'm not being careful. And of course, the nailbed hurts as well. It's with great difficulty that I'm typing this message.

Want more refreshing news? I was glad I could leave the hospital. The doctor I saw there didn't want to let me go though, cause my white blood cell level had only just reached 700. I keep reading on the Internet that it's supposed to be between 4,500 and 10,000 cells per microliter, but she said a minimum of 2,000 is required. It is super low, but I was so bored and ready to shoot myself that she was kind enough to let me go... with a warning though! No public transport, no strangers, no sick people around me, just be super careful of the world around me really.

So here I am, in my brother's room, (slowly) typing away. Oh well... *sigh*

  1. Oh, poor Sali. Is this white blood cell issue due to the chemo? The numbers you cited are worrying... please take good care and make sure you cannot get another infection. This chemo round really seems to be very hard. I so hope that the next one will be better.
Lots of love and big hugs, Silvia

  3. Not sure how much you can concentrate on when you are feeling so ill, but can you get some audio books or something to keep you amused if you have to go in again? Take care of yourself! X Leila
