When I finished the test I waited for the secretary to give me a copy of the CD they send to the doctor. That's when I met a woman I'd seen several times before during previous tests. She told me her story and kept repeating how she would do all her tests in this hospital and then leave for another one, specialized in cancer cases. I listened to her, but to be honest, I've been very happy til now, the doctors take care of me very well and they're nice, they just don't seem to be willing to give me any choice when it comes to losing my breast completely.
The two friends who came with me were like, you won't lose anything if you ask for another opinion. It's true that the name of that new hospital kept coming back everytime... I looked at my mum during lunch and asked her what she thought. She said 'go for it, it can only be better'
We left there and then to the other hospital to take an appointment. I was lucky cause they gave me an appointment with Dr. D. which was this morning at 8am.
What the doctor said changed my life!
Dr. D. listened to me very carefully and explained everything to me from A to Z, in such detail that I felt tears welling up in my eyes. This was what I had been waiting for since the beginning! He insisted I would do some chemo before surgery, to reduce the tumour. Once that's done, the tumour could end up small enough so they don't have to remove the breast completely, but partially. There's even some cases where the tumour disappears before surgery! WOW! I'll have to go through surgery nevertheless. But I feel so hopeful! Look at me: I'm smiling!
