Yesterday's post is a bit confusing. The worst part is over, that's for sure, but there's still 2 things I need to do:
Radiotherapy
Hormonal therapy
I have my first RT encounter in about 3 weeks, in order to mark my body and know where exactly to shoot me with lasers... RT doesn't seem to have a lot of effects except for the infamous exhaustion. Skin burns are also pretty common, but you get protection against that. I think the hormones have to wait a bit until I've started RT. There's gonna be 2 types of hormones I'm gonna have to take: pills and injections. Both will set me in an artificial menopause. That way, I won't be exposed to any risks of developing another tumour... That's what the doctors say anyway. Dr. Ig had told me about it saying 5 years of that treatment would be necessary (FIVE years!!!), but yesterday, Dr. Sweetheart said they agreed over 2 years. If everything was OK, maybe longer, IF I wished. What a huge difference.
Side effects of the HT are easy to find: just ask your average grandma *sigh*. I will have to cope with hot flashes and weakening of my bones. Thank Goodness it's only temporary. So, I'm not too bothered yet. And let me tell you: nothing beats chemo. Once you've gone through that, everything else sounds like a joke.
Not just Grandmas Sali LOL ask any young woman who has had a hysterectomy - early menopause !
RépondreSupprimerI have heard that HRT increases your libido!
So tell the boys to watch out!!! (wink wink)
